I need more … Love!

Valentines Day happens this month. I’m sure I’ll be hearing that all too familiar radio ad from one of our local jewelers. “When surveyed about diamonds, many women respond, ‘The bigger the diamond, the better it is!’ Come in and make the woman in your life realize how much you really love her.”

That got me thinking—I wonder if my wife is satisfied with her diamond ring. So I inquired, “Still think your diamond ring expresses my love for you? Or do you think a bigger one would be better?”

“Have you been listening to those silly commercials again? I wouldn’t replace my diamond for anything!

“Besides, our love is bigger than some diamond ring. The way you call me at work to see how my day is going, the way you care for the kids, the way you help in a crisis, the way you send me little notes for no reason, are all ways you express your love.

“I don’t need a bigger diamond to know that you love me. I just need you doing what you do.”

Do you find yourself saying, “I need more love today!”? Do you want that certain someone in your life to buy you more things: diamonds, cards, or flowers to show how much they care?

And if you don’t get the things you expect, do you think that you are loved less or not at all?

It’s wonderful to be loved. But there are times when we feel we need more love. Then it’s important to recognize how much we are loved by Jesus.

Jesus’ love is bigger than anything or anyone. The Bible explains, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us” (1 John 3:16). What more can a person give? What more can a person want?

Jesus loved us so much that he sacrificed his perfect life so that we can live with God and experience his wonderful love forever.

Jesus is love. His great love for you is not symbolized by a large diamond, but by a wooden cross where he gave his life to give you eternal life.

Do you need more love? Jesus’ love is largest. Come and learn more about the love of Jesus for you.
